Leaving Tumblr for Instapaper →
Nick Bilton, The New York Times:
Mr. Arment explained that he originally built the product for himself as he found it difficult to save interesting articles he wanted to read on his iPhone. He said he was the only Instapaper user for the first three months, but after friends began asking if they could gain access to the service he decided to launch it publicly….
Mr. Arment said he now has 800,000 registered users and 200,000 people use it on a regular basis.
Talk about making the leap to self-employment with an enormous crash pad to cushion the landing.
